LeapFrog Learn and Groove Table

I love to read reviews of products that are full of very positive things, and the cons, yes there are some that are actually comical. The Leapfrog Learn and Groove Table is such a product. The Learn and Groove Table is an interactive toy designed for children 6 to 36 months old; however older children often are still entertained by the table.

The LeapFrog Learn and Groove Musical Table is a sturdy plastic entertainment center for your children or grandchildren. The table can be used without its legs, so that the youngest child can benefit from the learn and groove. As your child grows and starts to walk and stand, the legs can be added. The table has handy grooves that your child can use to help him or her stand next to the table.

There are several other manufactures that produce similar tables, but this is the first one that I have seen that is bilingual. The Learn and Groove Table has two modes, words or music, both can be heard in English or Spanish. The choice is made by a simply switch setting. It’s never too early to start teaching a second language.

The top of the table has several interactive buttons and levers that you inquisitive child can investigate. There is a trombone with a working slide that counts to 10 as the slide is move up and down. There is also a cello that teaches the concept of up and down, as its slider is moved. Piano keys improve your child’s motor skills, while at the same time playing melodies. Turning pages in the book in the center of the top causes the operational mode of the table to change. Combine this with blinking lights and your child will be entertained and educated for several hours.

What all of that adds up to is that your child learns his or her letters from A-Z, counting of 1-10, Colors and shapes, first words, and cause and effect. And once they have mastered it, you can change the language and start their second language learning experience.

Now all of these things are positive, and as I noted there were some cons involved with the Learn and groove table.

It seems that older children have discovered that the Learn and Groove table makes an excellent ladder, allowing them to get into things that were purposely moved out of there reach. Now I am not a 100% sure that should be counted as a con, but maybe more of a word to the wise. In a strange way, learning to use the table as a ladder is really just an advancement in the child’s logic skills.
